Loud and Clear 11/11/09

Today is Veteran's day. A day to remember the fallen. In my world I have my own veterans that have fallen. Those whom participate in this struggle. Soldiers of purpose. I have written a piece about Reginald Blanton. One of the things that amazes me is all the attention that was given to him in his final days. Now I was an associate of Reginald's and I know how hard it was for him to get certain groups to assist him in his case and etc. Yet when he gets a date, they all link up all kinds of ways to his name. I mention this exploitation in an ode to him.

Dudes in here do the same thing. Why people wait until a person gets a date is truly senseless. Many of these so called great anti-death penalty groups just use names for the for the attention it brings to their individual agenda's. It makes more sense to fight a case at the beginning then wait until the end.

Anyways, I don't want to get all into that, as I will just get aggravated. I have had the same problem that Reginald had. People claim we are too radical. We break the rules. The truth is that most of these groups don't change shit! The people that have actually made the biggest impact on the "people" is us radicals!

Richard Cartwright fought the system hard! He made more people change their views on the death penalty process than any group ever did! I have been writing for many years, so I have gotten to see different responses the people have to my writings. The spirit of resistance is what touches the people. The courage to stand up and resist!  People appreciate that.  As for the most part people spend their lives going with the grain. This is why they are attracted to the rebels in life. Its why girls like the bad boys. Its why people keep up with the crazy ass celebrities. Its why people go to the movies. Why do you think the pictures of the people in Iran protesting the recent election was so un-popular? The people appreciate and admire those that stand up and resist the system that oppresses them. It is also why cowards have such disdain for those that stand up. That shake the boat to speak out.  It makes their own silence stand out. They are jealous because they lack the courage to try to break the chains that bind them.

You know why people have the rights they do in society today? It is due to those that refused to follow the easy path. It is due to those that stood up. Look at the history of the worlds super powers. The United States was founded on revolution. "Give me liberty or give me death." The Boston Tea Party. Look at the French revolution.

Anyways, I am not really in a writing mood. I got alot on my mind. Reginald's execution had a unique impact on me. Same as Richard's did. See we all have that same spirit. So when he was executed it made me think more about my own mortality.
I know most think that since we are on death row, we think about dying all the time. HELL NAW!!!  I get caught up in petty matters all the time. Some have sport to keep their minds off this reality. I do find that I spend more time focused on my situation than most. Maybe that is why I am pissed off more.

Anyways Reginald's execution is hard to accept as it brings into focus the reality of how it could be. Namely because of us having the same kind of spirit. Our attraction to resistance. It also made me think about the fact that there was so much more that we could have done. That is one of the things that bothers me the most. Just like with visits and such. When someone sets up a special visit, we have to stress about is something going to happen that will cause it to get messed up. Like will we get provoked and have to let it go for the sake of not messing up the visit. All I can say is when it comes to me, get a refundable ticket!!!!

I know that this article isn't too great. I am going to go ahead and wrap this one up. I just wanted to post the "Ode to A Fallen Soldier" that I wrote about Reginald Blanton. I will write another blog soon.

Take Care
